Michael Acosta came on board with Grayson College in November, 2023. 

Prior to Grayson, he spent the last four years in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD in various roles, most recently as a Social Media/Marketing Specialist in the Athletic Department. There he covered a wide array of sports, splitting his time between the three high schools in the district. 

He brings over 10 years of journalism experience with him to Grayson College.

Throughout his career, he has worn many hats working in newspaper, radio, PA Announcing. He has experience in writing, news and sports reporting, copy editing, video editing, social media, website design/maintenance, and much more. 

He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from Texas Wesleyan University in 2016, and his Associate's Degree from Tarrant County College in 2014. While at Texas Wesleyan, he was on the student newspaper staff for nearly two years. Acosta was the only sports reporter during his first semester, and rebuilt the relationship between student media and the athletic department. 

Acosta is also an award winning journalist. In 2015, he won the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award (one of the highest awards in collegiate journalism) for sports writing. In 2016, he took home Honorable Mention Honors in Sports Writing for Sports News Story from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association. 

Acosta and his girlfriend currently reside in Plano with their dog and two cats.
