Aniyah Pequeno's two strike, two out two run single was the difference in a 7-5 Grayson victory in consolation bracket play on Wednesday, May 21.
Paris took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two run home run by Gabriela Sosa, but the Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the first.
Daeya Moses sent her 12th homer of the year over the fence in center to cut the deficit 2-1, but they weren't done yet. Sophie Jenkins and Halle Giaudrone both singled, and Layne Reh tied the game with a two out single.
In the fourth inning, Hadison Fults hit a solo homer, but Grayson came right back in their half of the fourth inning with KK King getting a solo homer of her own (number 18) to tie it at 3-3.

Grayson took the lead in the fifth inning, Matti Matthews led off with a single, and Aniyah Pequeno sent an RBI triple over the drawn in infield and outfield for a 4-3 lead. Moses sent her second RBI to center for a single and a 5-3 lead.
Christi McGuire tied it in the sixth inning with a two run homer for Paris, but again Grayson had an answer.
Reh led off with a double, and Jaclyn Draeger was hit by a pitch. Abby Wood laid down a sac bunt, and Matthews was called out on strikes. Pequeno came through in the clutch with two outs and two strikes, lacing the go-ahead two run single to make it a 7-5 Grayson Viking lead. Riley Mays worked around a two run single in the seventh inning to send the Vikings to the win.

Leading the offense was Pequeno (2-4, 3 RBI), Moses (2-4, HR, 2 RBI) and King (1-3, HR). Reh had a pair of hits and an RBI. In the circle, Mays threw a complete game giving up five hits, and five earned runs. She walked one and struck out six.
Grayson will advance to play the loser of sixth seeded Odessa and third seeded Northwest Florida State tonight at 8:15 MST (10:15pm CST). Odessa finished number seven and Northwest Florida State finished number three in the last poll of the season.
