Viking baseball season comes to a close

The Viking baseball season came to a close with a 9-1 loss to New Mexico in game two on Friday, May 9.

The Vikings battled throughout, and broke through on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. Brandon Seidmeyer led off with a double. Chase Womack came up with a clutch two out hit, lining a single to right, and advancing to second on the throw to draw within 4-1, after New Mexico got a two run home run in the second and a two run double fifth innings. New Mexico added on runs in their half of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to take the victory.
Womack reached base in all four plate appearances, drawing three walks and the RBI single. JT Cienega had a pair of walks, Brandon Creek had a triple, while Seidmeyer and Sloan Barrett each tallied hits. Trey Walker and Barrett each had a walk for the Vikings.

For the Vikings it was still a very successful season. They finished with 33 wins in the third year with Cal Hernandez as the head coach. He has 81 victories in three seasons as the lead man, and a conference co-championship.

Congratulations on a great season!
