Viking Baseball to host New Mexico in Region V Tournament

In a rematch from last year's Region V Tournament, the Vikings will play host to the New Mexico Thunderbirds in Region V Tournament action this week at Dub Hayes Field. 

The Vikings, NTJCAC Conference Co-Champs won the home field advantage in this one. The power rankings gave the Vikings (33-20; 24-8) the two seed, while fellow co-champ Weatherford took the number one seed. 

The Thunderbirds finished third in the west, with a 37-18 overall record and a 27-9 record in conference play.

In last year's Region V Tournament, the Vikings opened up with the Thunderbirds, and defeated them 9-2 behind six strong innings of one run baseball and six strikeouts from Kade Neuenschwander. Sloan Barrett had a pair of hits in that game. The two teams met again laster in the tournament, with New Mexico winning 10-5. 

The best of three series begins Thursday, May 8. Game two will be on Friday, May 9 and if necessary, game three will be Saturday, May 10. All games are nine inning games, and a 1pm first pitch.
