Viking baseball is NTJCAC Conference Co-Champions

With the Vikings sweeping Cisco to close out the regular season 24-8 and guaranteed to host the first round of the Region V Tournament, all eyes shifted to the fifth ranked Weatherford Coyotes as the seeding in the north began to take shape.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Weatherford Coyotes were 21-7, and needed to sweep Vernon in order to take over sole possession and the conference championship outright.

Weatherford took the first three games of the series, but Vernon took the series finale, to give the Vikings a share of the NTJCAC Conference Title in Head Coach Cal Hernandez's third season at the helm leading the Viking baseball team.

Under the new tournament format, the top two teams in the north and the west will host a best of three series at their home ballpark. The winners of each regional tournament will meet for the super regionals next week in a winner take all, double elimination format to see who represents Region V at the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado at the end of May.

The Vikings finished the regular season 33-20 witha 24-8 mark in conference play. The 24 wins in conference play were the most since 2022, Dusty Hart's last season at Grayson.
