In a non-conference tune-up, the Vikings took two from Tyler during their "bye week" while the rest of the NTJCAC finished out conference play.
In game one, Tyler won 6-4 in eight innings. Zack Zavala homered for Tyler on the first pitch to open the game, but in the third inning, the Vikings took the lead on a two run homer by Nik Sanders (his 12th) to take a 2-1 lead. The Vikings added two more runs in the fifth, getting a two run single by Austin Godwin to extend the lead to 4-1.
Levi Risenhoover hit an RBI triple in the sixth inning, and an error by Grayson scored two for Tyler in the seventh. Risenhoover hit a two run homer in the eighth for the 6-4 lead.

The Vikings shut out Tyler 2-0 to take game two in seven innings. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, JT Cienega drew a walk, Nik Sanders just missed a two run homer, but settled for an RBI double and Austin Godwin lined an RBI single. Sanders robbed a home run in the seventh inning to preserve the shutout.
Also of note, over the last four games: Nik Sanders has four home runs and nine RBI.
As the series shifted to Tyler on Saturday, May 3, it was a battle from the game's first pitch.
Tyler put up three runs in the first, getting a two run single from Grayson Lincecum, and an RBI single from Dalton Wilson. Chase Womack homered (ninth on the year) in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 3-1. In the fifth inning, JT Cienega and Nik Sanders drew walks, Austin Godwin sent an RBI single to right to cut the deficit to 3-2. Brandon Creek walked to load the bases, and Andrew Schultz tied the game with a sac fly. Easton Paxton gave the Vikings a 4-3 lead with a groundout. Tyler tied the game in their half of the fifth; Josiah Mackey reached on an error, scoring a run. The Vikings took the lead for good in the sixth inning. Brooks Dwinell hit a one out single, and Boston Lee drew a walk. Godwin followed with another RBI single for a 5-4 lead, and Creek sent an RBI double to left for a 6-4 lead. Sawyer Dunigan added an RBI single for Tyler in the sixth, but the Viking bullpen took care of the rest to secure the win.
