Viking Baseball secures three wins over Temple

The Grayson Viking Baseball team took three wins from Temple last week, including a double-header sweep at home, and a two hit shutout to open the series on the road. 

Game four

The Vikings tallied 13 hits as a team, but Temple avoided the sweep with a 9-5 victory to close out the four game series on Friday, April 18. 
Grayson struck first in the top of the first inning. Barrett led off the game with a single, and moved to third on a double by Cienega. A fielder's choice groundout from Seidmeyer gave the Vikings the 1-0 lead. 
In the second inning, Creek led off with a single, and scored on a double from Womack to extend the lead to 2-0. Two batters later, Womack scored on an RBI single by Barrett for a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Kolvin Davis hit an RBi single to cut the Viking lead to 3-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Temple scored five runs getting RBI's from Kash Millar, Ryder Rutledge and Brayden Simmons to take a 4-3 lead. An error led to two runs, and the Vikings were down 6-3. An RBI single in the sixth inning, made it a 7-3 game in favor of Temple, but the Vikings kept fighting. 
Womack led off with a single, and moved to second on a passed ball. Barrett put runners on the corners with a single, and Cienega followed with an RBI single to bring Grayson within 7-4. Temple added two runs in the seventh on an error, and the Vikings trailed 9-4. 
In the eighth inning, Brooks Dwinell led off with a single, and stole second. He came around to score on an RBI single by Creek to bring the Vikings within 9-5. 
Both Barrett and Cienega finished 3-5 with an RBIin the game. Creek was 3-4 with an RBI, while Womack was 2-3 with an RBI. Dwinell added a pair of hits in the game. 

Game three

Braydon Risley and the Vikings were dealing in the first game on the road. Risley worked quick and was efficient, as he tossed a two hit shutout complete game with six strikeouts and just one walk. For Risley, it was his third complete game of the season, good for second on the team behind Kade Neuenschwander who has six. 
Offensively, it was a scoreless affair until the fifth inning. Boston Lee drew a one out walk, and advanced to third on a groundout by Andrew Schultz. Womack reached on an error, scoring Lee. In the sixth inning, Godwin lined an RBI single, scoring Cienega, who singled with one out earlier in the inning. 
Seidmeyer tallied a pair of hits, with Cienega and Godwin adding a hit in the win. 

Game two

In thrilling fashion, the Vikings kept battling, and came back from down 7-1, scoring eight unanswered runs and winning in the 11th inning on a walk-off home run by Chase Womack.
Andrew Ermis hit a sac fly in the first inning to open the scoring, but the Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the inning, gettin an RBI double by Godwin scoring Barrett, who led off with a walk. 
In the top of the third, Brayden Simmons reached on an error scoring a run, and later in the inning Lance Cantrell hit a run scoring single for a 3-1 lead. 
Hunter Baros homered for Temple in the fourth inning, and Sage Sanders added an RBI triple, and Simmons and Kade Davis tacked on RBI singles for a 7-1 lead, but the Viking offense was just getting started. 
In the bottom of the fifth, Cienega reached on an error, and two batters later, Godwin scored him on an RBI single to cut the deficit to 7-2.
In the sixth inning, Nik Sanders reached on an error, and scored on an RBI single by Kain Sanchez. 
Cienega drew a walk, and Seidmeyer singled to open the seventh inning. Two batters later, a two run double by lee cut the deficit to 7-5. Sanders beat out an infield single later in the inning, and Womack was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sanchez worked the bases loaded walk to cut the deficit to 7-6.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Vikings worked some two out magic. Dwinell pinch hit and worked the walk after being down 1-2 to start the at-bat. Womack followed with a single, and Sanchez worked the four pitch walk to load the bases. Barrett fought with a 2-2 count, and worked another walk to bring in the tying run. Cienega very nearly ended the game with a sharp line drive, but Millar took a step to his right to catch the line drive. 
After a scoreless 10th and top of the 11th, Womack delivered the final blow, a two run home run to send the Vikings to the doubleheader sweep, after he won the first game as well. 
Seidmeyer, Godwin, Sanders, and Womack all had multi-hit games, each recording two hits. Sanchez, Womack, Lee and Godwin each drove in two runs. 
Coleman Allison was dominant out of the bullpen, tossing four innings, giving up just one hit. Peyton Leon also threw two scoreless innings, striking out two, allowing just two hits.

Game one

Kade Neuenschwander tossed his team leading sixth complete game in seven starts in conference play, as the Vikings cruised to a 12-2 victory in six innings.
The game was scoreless for the first inning and a half, and then the Viking offense went to work. 
Caleb Hoover was hit by a pitcher, and moved to second on a single by Creek. Sanders followed with an RBI single for a 1-0 lead. Sanchez reached on an error, scoring a run, and Barrett capped the inning with a two run triple, and a 4-0 lead for Grayson. 
Lance Cantrell cut the lead in half with a two run homer in the fourth inning, but the Viking quickly added more runs. 
Creek led off the fourth with a single, and Sanders drew a walk. Sanchez loaded the bases with a single , and Cienega plated a run with an RBI single and a 5-2 lead.
In the sixth inning, Womack led off with a single, and moved to second on a single by Barrett. Cienega was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Seidmeyer worked the bases loaded walk to extend the lead to 6-2. Godwin followed with a two run single to push the lead to 8-2. An RBI double by Lee made it 9-2, Sanders worked a bases loaded walk for a 10-2 lead, and Womack ended the game with a two run double. 
Offensively, the Vikings tallied 12 hits. Barrett, Creek, Womack and Lee all had two hits each. Creek, Sanders and Womack each drove in a pair of runs. 
Neuenschwander gave up just two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out five in six innings of work. 

The Vikings remain in second place in the NTJCAC with a 27-19 overall record, and a 20-8 record in conference play. Due to weather, their series with Cisco will begin on Tuesday, April 22. The first two will be at Grayson for a 1pm and 4pm start, and shift to Cisco on Saturday, April 26.
