Vikings secure two walk-off wins against No. 18 McLennan

The Vikings celebrate a home run.
Grayson Baseball had two walk-off wins to sweep the DH and split the series with No. 18 McLennan!
 
Game one 
 
The Vikings were walk-off winners in nine innings in game one! Boston Lee gave the Vikings the walk-off win with an RBI single for the 8-7 win! 
Daniel Harden gave McLennan the early lead, with a bases loaded walk. Sherman Johnson cleared the bases with a three run double for the 4-0 lead.
The Vikings cut the lead in half in their half of the first inning. Sloan Barrett and JT Cienega led off with singles, Austin Godwin reached on an error for the first run, and Caleb Hoover ripped a double down the line to bring the Vikings within 4-2.
AJ Goytia hit a home run in the third inning to extend the McLennan lead to 5-2.
In the bottom of the third, JT Cienega led off with a single, moved to second on a balk, and scored on an error by pitcher and center fielder to bring Grayson within 5-3! Nik Sanders doubled, and Austin Godwin drew a walk. Hoover laced his second double to bring in a run, and pull within 5-4! Godwin scored on a wild pitch to tie the game, and Easton Paxton brought in another run on a groundout to push the lead to 6-5.
A sac fly from Austin Godwin in the sixth inning, scored Sloan Barrett who led off the inning with a double, to extend the Viking lead to 7-5. Facing two strikes and two outs in the seventh inning, Daniel Harden hit the game tieing two run single for a 7-7 tie. In the ninth inning, Caleb Hoover drew a one out walk, and moved to second on a groundout from Brooks Dwinell. Chase Womack was intentionally walked, and Brandon Creek drew a walk to load the bases with two out. On a 2-1 count, Boston Lee ripped the game winning single to center field. 
The Vikings tallied 11 hits in this one. Sanders had a pair of doubles, and finished 3-4. He was one of four to have a multi-hit game. Barrett, Cienega, and Hoover each had a pair of hits. Hoover also drove in a pair of runs. 
Braydon Risley started the game, working six inning, giving up six runs, and struck out four. Tyler Suddert worked 1.2 innings, giving up a run and striking out two. Coleman Allison got the win, striking out a pair in 1.1 scoreless innings. 
 
Game two
 
A walk-off error gave the Vikings an 11-10 victory in game two! Nik Sanders blooped a hit into no man's land in the outfield, and the 2nd Baseman had it drop out of his glove for the game winner in the seventh inning, after Chase Womack tied it at 10 with a two run home run. 
McLennan scored first on a base hit from Deiten Lachance. Caleb Hoover tied it in the bottom of the second with a solo blast to center.
In the third inning, the Vikings took the lead on a groundout from Nik Sanders, scoring Sloan Barrett who led off the inning with a double. A single from Spencer Butt, and then a bases loaded walk from Owen Smith, and a groundout from Lachance gave McLennan a 4-2 lead. AJ Goytia followed with a three run home run to give McLennan a 7-2 lead in the fourth.
The Vikings struck back in their half of the fourth. Boston Lee led off with a home run, Chase Womack and Brandon Creek led off with singles, and advanced 90 feet on the wild pitch. Kain Sanchez and Sloan Barrett both drove in runs on the sac fly, to draw Grayson within 7-5.
In the fifth inning, Jackson Irons hit a two run home run to extend the McLennan lead to 9-5. In the bottom of the fifth, Nik Sanders led off with a walk, and scored on a double from Austin Godwin to bring Grayson within 9-6.
In the bottom of the sixth, Sanders hit a two run blast over the indoor facility in left field with two outs, to bring Grayson within 9-8. A bases loaded walk in the seventh gave McLennan the 10-8 lead, but that was short lived.
As a team, the Vikings tallied 13 hits. Godwin and Lee each tallied three hits, while Womack and Creek each had a pair of hits. Sanders drove in three runs, and Womack drove in two. 
Jack Sharp got the win for the Vikings, throwing two innings of relief, giving up just an unearned run, and striking out five. 
 
The Vikings will take on Eastern Oklahoma State College in a non conference matchup on Monday, March 24 at Dub Hayes Field. First pitch is set for 2pm.
