Viking Baseball came up short in both games at No. 18 McLennan on Wednesday, March 19.
Game one
Game one was a 2-1 McLennan victory. It was a pitching battle throughout. McLennan struck first in the bottom of the first, getting an RBI single.
The Vikings came right back in the third inning; Kain Sanchez was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a single from Sloan Barrett. Brandon Seidmeyer loaded the bases with a walk, and Austin Godwin worked the bases loaded walk to tie the game at 1.
McLennan loaded the bases in their half of the third inning, and scored on an RBI single, to make it a 2-1 game.
Easton Paxton led the Vikings offensively, finishing 2-3 with a pair of singles. Godwin, Chase Womack, JT Cienega and Sloan Barrett each added a hit in the loss. Kade Neuenschwander threw six solid innings, giving up just five hits, and two earned runs. While he walked six batters, he struck out five.

Game two
Game two was a 12-7 McLennan victory.
McLennan scored a pair in the bottom of the first. A run scored on an error, and two batters later, a groundout brought across the second run.
In the top of the second inning, Austin Godwin drew a leadoff walk, and moved to second on a single from Caleb Hoover. Chase Womack scored one with an RBI single to bring Grayson within 2-1.
McLennan added a run in the third on a fielder's choice.
Grayson took the lead in the third inning. Kain Sanchez and Sloan Barrett drew walks, and came around to score to tie the game on a two run triple from Nik Sanders. A sac fly from Godwin gave the Vikings a 4-3 lead.
In the sixth inning, McLennan took the lead on a three run home run, to go ahead 6-4. A single from Brandon Creek drew the Vikings within 6-5, scoring JT Cienega, who reached on an error to start the inning.
An RBI single in the McLennan seventh inning put the Vikings in an 8-5 deficit, but they kept battling. Caleb Hoover hit a one out double in the eighth, and moved to third on a single from Easton Paxton. Chase Womack drove in his second run with a single, and JT Cienega followed with a single to bring Grayson within 8-7.
A two run double in the McLennan eighth inning made it a 10-7 McLennan lead. They scored four in the inning, getting a run across on an error , and a sac fly to go ahead 12-7. The Vikings fought, but fell short on the scoreboard.
Sanders and Womack each drove in two runs to lead the Vikings offensively. Hoover and Womack each had a pair of hits, and finished 2-4.
Grady Moore started for the Vikings, giving up just one earned run over three innings of work. He walked four and struck out one. Peyton Leon Davis, Clay Kemp and Hoover each came out of the bullpen in relief.
