Viking Baseball records season opening double-header sweep

The Grayson Viking baseball team rode some strong pitching performances to sweep the season opening double-header on the road against Dallas College-Eastfield on Friday, Jan. 31. 

Game one

The Vikings struck first in game one. Sloan Barrett was hit by a pitch, and came around to score on a double from Brooks Dwinell. Nik Sanders put the Vikings up 2-0 with an RBI double. Grayson came up clutch with two outs in this one. Brandon Seidmeyer flew out, and later Sanders was thrown out trying to steal third base. Chase Womack was hit by a pitch, and moved to second on a single from Austin Godwin. Carson Garrett brought in the third run of the inning on an RBI single.
Kade Neuenschwander drew the start for the Vikings, and was dominant, allowing only one base runner through the first five innings of the game. He gave up the single in the first inning, but Sanders threw out the runner trying to stretch a single into a double.
The Vikings added a run in the sixth inning. Sanders led off with a walk, and moved to third on a double by Womack. He came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Godwin, for a 4-0 Grayson lead.
Eastfield put up a run in the seventh inning, scoring on a one out RBI single, but Jack Surdey stranded the runner at first, getting a line out and a groundout to preserve the win for the Vikings, and record the save.
Offensively, seven different Grayson Vikings recorded a hit, while on the mound Neuenschwander picked up the win, striking out four over six innings of work. 

Game two

Behind some clutch hitting, and dominant pitching, the Vikings swept the opening double-header, winning 3-0.
The game was scoreless until the second inning. Garrett led off with a single, and scored on a two run home run by Womack. 
Grady Moore started the game for Grayson, and after giving up an extra base hit, was unhittable. In the first inning, he gave up the lead off double, but sent the next three down in order, recording a pair of strikeouts.
The Vikings added an insurance run in the fourth on an RBI single from Blake Lewis, scoring Caleb Hoover, who led off with a walk.
The three runs were more than enough for Moore and Braydon Risley. Moore allowed the one hit, and struck out six, with zero walks. Risley struck out three in two innings of work to record the save. 

The four game series will shift and conclude with the Grayson Vikngs home opener on Saturday, Feb. 1. First pitch from Dub Hayes is set for 12pm.
