
The Grayson Vikings couldn't have asked for a better start to open the NTJCAC Conference season.
Four Vikings scored in double figures, including a season high 14 points from Ella Hamlin, as Grayson secured an 89-39 victory over Southwest Christian on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
The Vikings held Southwest Christian to just four points in the opening quarter, while the Viking offense poured in 28 points that was capped off by a three from Tay Biglow just ahead of the first quarter buzzer.
A 10-0 run to open the second quarter was capped off by a layup from Madison Martin, and a jumper from Kayla Jones to lift the Vikings to a 40-4 lead. The Southwest Christian offense outscored Grayson 14-7 over the final five minutes of the second quarter, but Grayson maintained a commanding 47-18 lead at the half.
The third quarter saw the Vikings continue their offensive burst, outscoring Southwest Christian 23-7.
Hamlin scored nine of the Vikings 19 points in the fourth quarter, hitting a pair of big three pointers, to help Grayson start 1-0 in conference.
Grayson received contributions from all active players, led by Jones with 20 points, who shot a season high 90 percent from the field (9-10). Biglow added 16, and Letaru had 11.
After a bye week on Saturday, the Vikings will hit the road next Wednesday, traveling to take on Temple College. Tip-off is set for 5pm.
