Viking Women win third straight

A balanced scoring effort helped lift the Grayson Viking Women's Basketball team to a third straight victory; 90-44 over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Friday, Dec. 6.
The Vikings started off fast in this one, jumping out to a 21-12 lead after the end of the first quarter.
Diana Letaru and Susan Fahnbulleh hit two quick baskets in the second quarter, and the Viking lead was extended to 25-12. Back-to-back baskets from Tonkawa cut it back down to nine, but a Madison Carter three quickly put it back to a 12 point lead. The offense kept rolling from there, Tay Biglow was good from three, and four straight points made it a 35-18 Viking lead. A 10-4 run to close the quarter was capped off by a driving layup from Allyah Leusogi, and Grayson went into the half up 45-22.
The Viking defense took center stage in the third quarter, limiting Tonkawa to just five points, while the offense picked up where they left off in the first half, scoring 29 points in the quarter.
Fahnbulleh scored the first five for Grayson in the fourth quarter, Valajah Jackson was big on the glass, and the Vikings cruised to victory.
Biglow and Carter each had 19 points to lead the Vikings in scoring. Kayla Jones chipped in 12 points, while Leusogi led the team in rebounds with nine, and Madison Martin with six assists. Every active Viking scored in this one.
The win moves Grayson to 9-2 on the season. Grayson will return home for one final game of 2024 with a showdown against Paris on Thursday, Dec. 12. Tip-off from Viking Gym is set for 5pm.
