Dominant first half lifts Vikings to victory

A dominating first half that saw the Vikings put up 41 points, sent them to 2-0 with an 84-51 victory over Paris on Tuesday, Nov. 5. 

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with Grayson holding a six point advantage at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Vikings jumped out on a 12-2 run, getting contributions from multiple different players. Madison Martin had a steal and score, Kayla Jones an offensive rebound and layup, and Diana Letaru capped the run with a three pointer to give the Vikings a commanding 34-19 lead. Jones scored the final five for the Vikings to give them a 41-24 lead at the half.
The Vikings started the third quarter, the same way they began the second quarter; with a barrage of baskets. They opened the quarter on a 15-3 run, capped by a jumper from Gracie Burckhartzmeyer to extend the lead to 56-27. Letaru made another three, and Allyah Leusogi had a big basket off an offensive rebound, pushing the Vikings to a 63-39 lead at the end of the third quarter.

A Madison Carter three matched the Vikings largest lead, and they rode a 21 point fourth quarter to victory.
All active players scored in this contest, led by Jones with 15 points and eight rebounds. Susan Fahbulleh added 14, and Carter 11. Shaki Abdulazeez led the team in steals and assists with four each.
The Vikings will return home for homecoming, as they take on Arkansas-Cossatot on Saturday, Nov. 9. Tip-off is set for 5 pm.
