In one of their final non-conference games, the Vikings fell short in a high scoring affair, losing 14-13 on the road to Seminole State on Monday, April 14.
Seminole State got on the board early, putting up runs in each of the first four innings, jumping ahead 5-0, but no lead is safe playing against the Grayson Vikings.
The Vikings put two on the board in the fifth inning. Nik Sanders took the first pitch he saw, and deposited it over the fence in left field for a solo home run. Chase Womack reached on an error, and advanced to third on a double from Trey Walker. Sloan Barrett's sac fly drew the Vikings within 5-2. The offense continued grinding in the sixth inning.
Brandon Seidmeyer led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, and stole third. He would later score on a wild pitch to bring Grayson within 5-3. Easton Paxton followed with a one out double, to cut the deficit to 5-4. Paxton stole third, and scored for the moment the tying run on a sac fly from Chase Womack. Walker followed with a triple to center, and later scored on a passed ball to give Grayson a 7-5 lead. Seminole re-gained the lead on a three run homer in the sixth, and a solo homer in the seventh inning, but the Vikings pushed right back.
Paxton led off the eighth with a triple, and scored on an RBI single from Womack to pull within 9-8 in the eighth inning, but they weren't done there.
In the ninth inning, the Vikings put up five runs. JT Cienega led off with a double, and Seidmeyer reached on an error. Both runners advanced 90 feet, and scored on a two run single by Austin Godwin to give Grayson a 10-9 lead. Caleb Hoover followed with a two run blast for a 12-9 lead. Later in the inning, Paxton was hit by a pitch, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball, and scored on a sac fly from Womack for a 13-9 lead. Seminole State put four runs up in the ninth inning, and scored the game winning run in the 10th inning.
Seidmeyer and Walker led the offense with three hits. Womack drove in three runs, Hoover and Godwin each drove in two runs. As a team, the Vikings tallied 14 hits.
